GSA Green Carpet Spec

Did you know that GSA established a green carpet specification in April 2010?  The carpet spec was developed through a collaborative effort between GSA, carpet manufacturers, the Carpet and Rug Institute, and others to ensure strong market competition and responsiveness. There was extra effort put into this process to make sure there would be minimal or no cost to Public Building Service (PBS) projects. The spec requires that carpet meet the NSF 140 2007 e Sustainable Carpet Assessment Standard at a Gold level. Carpet must also contain post consumer content, low emitting materials for both carpet and adhesive, along with meeting other performance requirements. Read the spec here.opens in new window
