In FY 2023, GSA’s Region 7 developed a new program to target high water use facilities.

All three Chicago Federal Center buildings were certified as sustainable assets in Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 as part of GSA’s program to meet the Guiding Principles for Sustainable Federal Buildings for Existing Buildings.

GSA completed a modernization and expansion of the Otay Mesa campus, including both new construction and renovation efforts.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) new headquarters design on the St. Elizabeths Campus in Washington, DC was originally designed to set a new standard for energy performance for federal buildings in the National Capital region.

Zion National Parkopens in new window and GSA Fleet partnered to purchase a new fleet of battery electric low-floor transit buses and associated electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE).

GSA procured windows made of low embodied carbon glass as part of a larger renovation project at the Lewis F. Powell Jr. U.S. Courthouse in Richmond, Virginia.

High-performance buildings of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) save energy, save water, cost less to operate, produce less waste, and have more satisfied occupants compared with typical buildings. In short, they deliver cost savings and tenant satisfaction.

The GSA Fleet Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) and TTL Acquisition Support Teams worked with Veteran Affairs (VA) to provide assisted acquisition support to purchase 140 solar-powered electric vehicle charging stations delivered to 34 sites.

GSA, the Department of Transportation (DoT) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have been engaged in efforts to foster the use of low-carbon materials in federal construction projects. 

GSA’s NCR High Performance Facilities Branch collaborated across regional business lines to develop and execute a new approach for incorporating sustainability and energy performance into day-to-day activities.

In 2020, GSA started a project to establish a shared chilled water loop between two courthouses, allowing the campus to run in the most efficient manner.

The John Minor Wisdom United States Court of Appeals Building in New Orleans is a great example of how far good coordination can reduce water use.

GSA has a green carpet spec required for all owned and leased space.

During the Seattle Courthouse's LEED EBO&M certification effort, cost data was made available for healthy cleaning products on a square footage basis. 

As part of a national effort to demonstrate compliance with the EO13514 and the Guiding Principles for Federal Leadership in High Performance Sustainable Buildings, GSA adopted the USGBC's Volume Certification Program, utilizing the LEED Existing Buildings Operations & Maintenance rating system for their certifications. In the New England Region of GSA, the United States Custom House Building is part of the tenth round of federally-owned, regional buildings to participate in the program.

As part of a national effort to demonstrate compliance with the EO13514 and the Guiding Principles for Federal Leadership in High Performance Sustainable Buildings, GSA adopted the USGBC's Volume Certification Program, utilizing the LEED Existing Buildings Operations & Maintenance rating system for their certifications. In the New England Region of GSA, the Philip J. Philbin Federal Building is part of the ninth round of federally-owned, regional buildings to participate in the program.

As part of a national effort to demonstrate compliance with the EO13514 and the Guiding Principles for Federal Leadership in High Performance Sustainable Buildings, GSA adopted the USGBC's Volume Certification Program, utilizing standards set forth in the LEED Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance rating system for their documentation. The Wallace F. Bennett Federal Building is located in the Central Business District within Salt Lake City and is the largest GSA owned property in Salt Lake City.

The Nakamura US District Courthouse was built in 1939. Following a rennovation, it was awarded a LEED NC certification in 2011 and LEED EBO&M certification in 2013. Its original design and construction, however, included many sustainable qualities. 

After over a year of investigation and documentation, the Portland 911 Federal Office Building was able to secure funding, certification and high-performance by integrating advanced metering and retrocommissioning building systems.

The Norris Cotton Federal Building located in Manchester, NH, is a 7-story, reinforced, concrete and steel structure with two basement parking levels. Constructed in 1976 as an energy conservation pilot, Norris Cotton FB continued it's high performance leadership through a green renovation.

Performing a LEED EB certification within 2 years after new LEED building occupancy helps 'solidify' practices at a LEED NC-Platinum facility.
