Blinds are versatile window coverings. Blinds block or reduce sunlight penetration through windows. They are made with either vertical or horizontal slats that can be rotated for privacy control and maximum light tolerance. They are available in a variety of materials and styles such as bamboo, wood, composite wood, aluminum, vinyl or fabric. When utilizing light shelves consider installing two sets of blinds, one above and one below.

• Use cleaning chemicals and solutions that are Green Seal certified
• Dust with micro fiber cloth regularly or use vacuums that are CRI Green Label rated or have a CRI Seal of Approval

End of Life Tips

• If in good condition, materials can be donated to organizations like Habitat for Humanity that will reuse them.

• Daylight Penetration: Demonstrate through computer simulations that 75% or more of all regularly occupied areas (for LEED BD+C and ID+C; 50% for O+M) achieve daylight illuminance levels of a minimum of 300 lux and a maximum of 3,000 lux in a clear sky condition on September 21 at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. OR use a combination of side-lighting and/or top-lighting to achieve a total daylighting zone for the same percent of all the regularly occupied spaces.
