If there is more than one program listed below, agencies are directed to prioritize multi-attribute products, which meet statutory purchasing program requirements (asterisk) and one or more required Environmental Protection Agency purchasing programs.

Where to Buy

  • Goal: 100% of purchases have no PFAS in the refrigerant and meet statutory requirements (shown in bold) unless exempted due to CAP:
  •  ENERGY STAR certifiedopens in new window and with climate-friendly refrigerant if freezer, ice maker, or refrigerator (beyond designated level)
  •  FEMP qualifiedopens in new window if water-cooled ice machines

  • CAP - Cost, availability, performance are exemptions allowed for those products Federal agencies are required to purchase which have been designated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for biobased products, DOE for FEMP products, EPA for ENERGY STAR certified, SNAP, recycled content, and WaterSense products.
